SEE IT IN ACTION:
How does the YouFit Smart Watch measure your heart beat on your wrist?
The heart rate monitor is based on a difficult to pronounce technology called photoplethysmography, but it basically comes down to using green LED lights paired with light‑sensitive photodiodes to illuminate your skin and measures changes in light absorption.
This lets the device detect the amount of blood flowing through your wrist at any given moment. Because blood is red, it reflects red light and absorbs green light.
When your heart beats, the blood flows in your wrist and the green light absorption is greater. Between beats, it is less.
The sensor are designed to compensate for low signal levels by increasing both LED brightness and sampling rate. That’s why the heart rate sensor on the back of the device flashes its LED lights hundreds of times per second, helping the device calculate heart rates precisely.
Monitor Your Steps, Miles, and Calories Burned
The YouFit Smart Watch has a built in pedometer designed to track your steps, miles walked, and help with measuring the amount of extra calories this activity has burned. It is recommended that adults should take a minimum of 10,000 steps per day. Know exactly how many steps you have taken to help reduce the health risks associated with a sedentary lifestyle.
Sleep Analysis and Sleep Stage Detection
The YouFit Smart Watch also monitors your sleep by estimating your sleep stages using a combination of your movement and heart-rate patterns. When you haven’t moved for about an hour, your watch assumes that you’re asleep. Additional data—such as the length of time of your movements are indicative of sleep behavior (such as rolling over, etc.)—help confirm that you’re asleep. While you’re sleeping, your device tracks the beat-to-beat changes in your heart rate, known as heart rate variability (HRV), which fluctuate as you transition between light sleep, deep sleep, and REM sleep stages. When you sync your device in the morning, we use your movement and heart rate patterns to estimate your sleep cycles from the previous night.
